John Carpenter’s Halloween (1978) redefined the slasher film with a chilling simplicity: a masked figure, a quiet suburban street, and the terror of being hunted. When Michael Myers escapes from an asylum and returns to his hometown, babysitter Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis in her star-making role) finds herself stalked through shadowy hallways and quiet neighborhoods. With its iconic score, relentless suspense, and economical storytelling, Halloween remains a masterclass in horror and a seasonal must-see.
