Fulfills the requirements for Bugs Badge. We have JCRA patches for all Scouts who attend the program, but troops or individual Scouts will need to purchase the Girl Scout Badge from their Girl Scout Council Store. Registration for this program is open to troops or individual Scouts. Please make sure troop numbers are included in your registration. If attending as a troop, we will group Scouts together to rotate through the stations as a troop. Individual Scouts will be placed together to make a group or added to a troop to rotate through the stations. Troop leaders or parents are expected to stay with Scouts to supervise during the entire program.

The Girl Scout Program: Buggin' Out! is an interactive outdoor workshop at the JC Raulston Arboretum designed to help Brownies complete the requirements for their Bugs Badge. Participants will search the grounds for local insects, learn about bug anatomy, complete themed crafts, and plant a small container garden to take home to attract pollinators. This program is open to both individual Scouts and full troops, with organizers grouping participants to rotate through different activity stations. The registration fee is fifteen dollars per Scout, which includes a JCRA patch, though troops must purchase the official Girl Scout badge separately. Parents or troop leaders must remain on-site to supervise their children for the duration of the two-hour event. This workshop offers a structured, educational way to spend a Sunday afternoon outdoors. It combines science education with practical gardening, allowing kids to explore one of Raleigh's most beautiful public gardens while checking off badge requirements with their peers.
