Family Studio is a two-hour weekend art workshop at the North Carolina Museum of Art that combines a guided gallery tour with a hands-on studio session. Children examine professional gallery pieces with an instructor, then head to the studio to create their own projects using provided materials. This program is designed for children ages 5 to 11, and tickets cost $15 for general admission or $12 for museum members. Sessions run from 10:00 AM to noon and again from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Welcome Center in the Museum Park. It makes an excellent weekend outing because it balances active learning with a structured, indoor activity. Your kids get to experience the museum collection in a way that keeps them moving, and they leave with a finished project without you having to clean up the paint splatters at home.
