Chesstlemania is a free, drop-in chess program where elementary school students can learn the game or challenge teen volunteers to a match. This event is designed specifically for children in kindergarten through fifth grade, along with local teenagers. It takes place on Wednesday, September 16, from 4:30 PM to 5:15 PM at the Northeast Regional Library in Raleigh. There is no cost to attend, and all chess boards and pieces are provided by the library. Parking is free and plentiful in the library's dedicated lot. While this is a weekday event, it makes a smart addition to your weekly routine. It offers a structured, quiet environment for kids to stretch their minds after school, and you can easily pair it with a trip to the library's children's section to stock up on books for the upcoming weekend.
