Chapel Hill Farmers’ Market was started in April 2008 by Farmers of Orange, a state non-profit organization created for local farmers by local farmers. All of our farmers and artisans live within 60 miles of Chapel Hill, NC and bring fresh quality produce, value-added farm products, and crafts to market year-round.
The Chapel Hill Farmers' Market is a year-round, vendor-run market showcasing fresh produce, meats, baked goods, and handmade crafts from local agricultural producers and artisans. Established by a local non-profit, every vendor at this market operates within a 60-mile radius of Chapel Hill, ensuring you get the freshest seasonal items available. For a smooth visit, bring a sturdy stroller or wagon for the kids, as well as reusable shopping bags and some cash, though most vendors do accept cards. Admission is free, making it an affordable morning outing, and there is plenty of flat, paved parking nearby that is easy to navigate with toddlers. Kids of all ages will enjoy looking at the colorful displays, sampling fresh fruit, and picking out a baked treat for breakfast. This market makes a wonderful weekend stop because it combines grocery shopping with an easy outdoor activity. You can support local growers, teach your children about North Carolina agriculture, and secure fresh ingredients for your weekend meals all in one quick trip.
No, entry to the market is completely free, though you will want to bring funds to purchase produce, baked goods, and crafts directly from the vendors.
