Chapel Hill Biscuit Festival 2026 | Children's Biscuit Baking Classes (Ages 8-12)

The Chapel Hill Biscuit Festival Children's Biscuit Baking Class is a two-hour culinary workshop where kids ages 8 to 12 learn to bake traditional Southern biscuits from scratch. Participants will get their hands messy learning the science of dough, mastering both a classic rolled savory biscuit and a sweet drop biscuit. Each child receives a chef's apron, a goodie bag, and a custom-packed jar of biscuit mix to recreate the recipes in your own kitchen. This class takes place at the SECU Family House at UNC Hospitals on Saturday, October 24, 2026. Tickets cost $75 per child, and because space is strictly limited to 50 participants, you will want to register early. Parents can park for free in the SECU Family House lot during the session. All ingredients and tools are provided, so your child just needs to wear closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothes that can handle a dusting of flour. This workshop is an excellent weekend activity because it combines practical kitchen skills with a charitable cause. Your registration fee directly supports the SECU Family House, which provides lodging for patients and families traveling to UNC Hospitals.
