*Get in on the spirit of horror movies and Halloween – audience members are encouraged to arrive in costume! “…If you want a work that pushes the envelope of what the form can do, Black Lodge is definitely for you.” – Cultural Attache The night before Halloween, Memorial Hall transforms into something unsettling and mysterious. Before the performance even begins, audiences are invited to enter BARDO, a haunting, liminal place between death and rebirth. Come dressed in your Halloween finest and venture through spaces rarely open to audiences. Eerie installations. Strange encounters. Unsettling imagery. Around every corner, the sense that something is waiting—and watching—just out of sight. North Carolina performers bring this dreamscape to life to create an experience that haunts long after the night is over. The journey culminates with BLACK LODGE, a dark Lynchian opera about a tormented writer trapped in the nightmarish Bardo, where he is forced to confront the darkest moment of his life again and again. Through the blending of music, theater, and film, the performance explores what it means to reckon with the worst thing you have ever done. Together, the two experiences create an evening that feels less like attending a traditional performance and more like stepping into a collective late-night fever dream. Enter if you dare. *This two-part event begins with BARDO at 7 p.m., followed by BLACK LODGE at 9 p.m. A single ticket includes both experiences. 7:00 p.m.
