Black August Book Drive has been collecting a variety of books for youth, and is now giving them away for FREE at the Really Free Book Fair on Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Moore Square, 225 E Martin Street, Raleigh, North Carolina. This is a FREE event. Black August Book Drive collected over 2,000 books for students in K-12, and is excited to be sharing them with the community at this event. In addition to the book giveaway, the event features: Games Arts and crafts Open mic Poetry reading The aim is to inspire youth towards reading and creativity, and provide equity in access to educational activities. Held in partnership with LuckyTree. The event is geared toward black and brown youth, but is open to ALL.

Black August Book Drive's Really Free Book Fair at Moore Square Sept. 20 is a community book giveaway and youth festival designed to distribute over 2,000 free books to local students. Organized in partnership with LuckyTree, the afternoon features interactive games, arts and crafts, poetry readings, and an open mic session to encourage reading and creative expression. This event is open to everyone, with a special focus on supporting Black and brown youth in kindergarten through 12th grade. There is no cost to attend or to take books home. Moore Square is located at 225 East Martin Street, and you can find paid street parking nearby or use the City Market parking deck. Bring a tote bag so your kids can easily carry their new reading materials home. It is a smart Sunday outing because it combines outdoor play with a chance to refresh your child's home library for the school year.
