Awen Family played their first show at Kings in Raleigh, NC on June 5th and has since performed at festivals, concert series, venues, parks and backyards around the country. The band has featured an ever-changing all-star cast of artists who believe they are moving the message from one plane to another, “We don’t create the lesson, only move the message”, they don’t create the art, but are vessels for the great spirit to move through them, to inspire and to be inspired by the life around them. The band has featured members of Toubab Krewe, Big Something, Dr. Bacon, Charlie Hunter, The Kind Thieves, The Fundamentals, Self Help, TUB, Firewater Tent Revival, Custard Pie, Mellow Swells, The Moon Unit, FRUTE and many other acts. Blending roots music from around the globe such as Zydeco, Bluegrass, Funk, West African Traditional Music, Old Time, Indie, Swing, Celtic, Folk, Psychedelic, Jam, Boogie and many more, topped with their own unique sound and lyrics to spread the message for all who seek to hear.”
