Time: 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM

Venue: Little Gem Cocktail Bar & Event Space, Chapel Hill

Category: Food & Drink

Amari is a loosely defined class of bittersweet spirits, originally popularized in Italy, but now made everywhere. Amari can be wonderful for sipping by themselves, and as aperitifs and digestivs. But it cannot be denied that their use in cocktails, both old and new, opens up a whole new palate of flavors to work with, either as the base for a cocktail or a modifier. We will go over a brief history of the spirit, discuss the overarching parent category of Bitters, the different subcategories of amari, and why they are an acquired taste. Together we will make three cocktails that demonstrate the versatility and breadth of Amaro. This month's skill-building class will take place at Little Gem on Tuesday, November 17, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Space is limited to 16 seats, so be sure to reserve yours today! Tickets are available at $75 (includes plated snacks from Beau Catering, three cocktails, and recipe cards for each cocktail so you can make them at home). Hope to see you there! Can't make it? Amari & The Story of Bitters is an evening mixology class at Little Gem Cocktail Bar focused on the history and preparation of bittersweet herbal liqueurs. Participants will explore the different styles of amari, learn how these spirits function as digestifs and cocktail bases, and shake up three distinct drinks under professional guidance. This class takes place on Tuesday, November 17, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Little Gem in Chapel Hill. Tickets cost $75 per person, which covers all cocktail ingredients and plated snacks provided by Beau Catering. Because this event involves alcohol consumption, it is strictly for adults aged 21 and older. Street parking is available nearby, but plan to arrive a few minutes early to secure a spot and find your seat. While we usually focus on daytime outings with the kids, this weekday evening class offers a structured, social way to recharge. It is a straightforward, educational option for parents looking to build their home bar skills or enjoy a night out without the kids.
