An award-winning program designed to reduce the fear of falling in older adults age 55+ and increase their activity levels as they age. Join us for an 8-week workshop if you have a fear of falling or are worried you might as you age.
A Matter of Balance is an eight-week workshop designed to help older adults manage concerns about falls and increase their physical activity. The program focuses on practical strategies to improve strength, balance, and confidence in a supportive group setting. This free series is designed for adults aged 55 and older who want to stay active and independent. Sessions take place in the meeting room at the Stanford L. Warren Branch Library in Durham, which offers free on-site parking. Participants should plan to attend the weekly sessions consistently to get the full benefit of the curriculum, and no special gear or fitness clothing is required. While this is not an outing for young children, it is an excellent resource to share with local grandparents. Helping the seniors in your family stay mobile and safe is one of the best ways to ensure they can keep keeping up with the grandkids for years to come.
