Look closely and carefully at a single work of art, guided by an Ackland educator. Free, but space is limited to 20 participants; first come, first served. This event is part of UNC–Chapel Hill’s Campus Life Experience (CLE) program. Students who attend can scan the QR code provided at the event to receive CLE credit.
A Closer Look at One Work of Art is a guided, thirty-minute gallery session at the Ackland Art Museum led by a museum educator. Instead of rushing through multiple galleries, participants spend the entire half-hour examining and discussing a single piece of art in detail. This free program is best suited for teenagers and adults due to the focused, conversational nature of the tour. Because space is strictly limited to the first twenty attendees on a first-come, first-served basis, you should plan to arrive at least fifteen minutes early to secure your spot. It is an excellent mid-week outing for homeschooling parents with high schoolers or parents looking for a quiet, intellectual break with their older kids. The short duration keeps the experience digestible and prevents the usual museum burnout.
No tickets are required, but admission is limited to the first twenty people who arrive. Spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
