Frequently Asked Questions
- Are comedy shows family friendly?
- Most are for adults, and venues usually set an eighteen or twenty-one minimum. Improv theatres run all-ages and family matinee shows though, and those are marked kid-friendly in the listing.
- Where are the main comedy venues in the Triangle?
- Raleigh and Durham hold most of it, between dedicated comedy clubs, improv theatres and the breweries that run weekly open mics. Chapel Hill and Carrboro add a steady student-driven scene.
- How much do comedy nights cost?
- Open mics are often free or a few dollars. Touring headliners run twenty to fifty. Improv house shows usually sit somewhere in the middle.
